Building on almost 600 years of experience, UCLouvain is today a multisite university in Belgium at the forefront of innovation and excellence in education and research in all existing disciplines. Research and development is one of UCLouvain’s main activities with 22 research institutes, research centers, and technology platforms.

The Materials and Processes Engineering (IMAP) institute is an integrated and multidisciplinary research institute following the full life cycle of materials, from chemical processing to recycling, including process control and materials characterization.


Professor Joris Proost, one of the academics in IMAP, leads the ENDURE contribution of UCLouvain:

  • Well-recognised research and innovation track record in the field of electrochemical process intensification

  • Developing new reactor and electrode technologies for renewable hydrogen production, both at the lab-scale and pilot-scale levels.

  • Obtaining significant structural subsidies on the topic of green hydrogen production on the regional, federal, European, and international levels for more than a decade.

  • Official belgian representative of the H2 TCP program of the International Energy Agency (IEA).
